The Only Time

So, ever since Tobyn got his cast off he has walked on his tippy toe. At first we were afraid that it might still be broken, but after a doctor visit we were told it's not broken and that he just needed some physical therapy to help strengthen those muscles again.
Yesterday was his physical therapy appointment. It went well. While talking with the physical therapist I explained that his foot had been cast at a 90 deg. angle, but the little stinker wore through the first cast so we had it re-cast. When they put the second cast on his foot was a little more relaxed and the cast hardened with his foot more pointed and he had a harder time walking in it. I took him back to the doc. and told them to look at it. They told me that it was better the way it was cast now because the muscles wouldn't get so tight and it would be easier for him to walk when he got out of the cast.
WRONG!!! The physical therapist said that it was worse the way it was re-cast because his muscle has now shrunk. That's right shrunk! It was the first time I have been disappointed by my children's pediatric physicians. They have done a wonderful job...up until now. I will still take them there, because for the past 5-6 years I have been taking the kids there, this is the only time I have been truly disappointed by a decision they have made.
Tobyn will be fine, but now we have to work on daily stretches that will lengthen and stretch those muscles so he can walk flat on his foot again. If he doesn't make good improvement in the next 2 weeks he will have to go back into a cast for a week and force those muscles to stretch out....fun....NOT!

Special Handling

Max got his hair done yesterday. I went to pick him and the bill was $6 more than usual. The nice girl that did his grooming, commented that she had to add a special handling fee, because he was being slightly difficult. (He doesn't like his "skirt" brushed or trimmed) So I paid the fee and asked what I could do to make him a better dog, so next time I don't get that "Special handling fee" (Brush him more would be the answer)

I decided I would like to add a special handling fee for children. If you watch a child that is particularly difficult you can just add politely
"There will be a $7 special handling fee for them today. They didn't want to cooperate. They were a little nippy and tried to pee on me."
Or my dear husband walks in the door and I can say, ever so sweetly,
"Honey, there will be an extra $20 out of your next pay check for me this week. The special handling fee, your children were a little rough."

Hey- Just an idea....But then again, I might go broke!

A little late..

I was a slacker this year! Big time! I didn't get anything for Todd for Fathers Day. We were camping and supposed to be gone on Father's Day and with Tobyn's leg I just didn't get around to it.
But because I do have such a GREAT husband who is a TERRIFIC father to my boys I wanted to write down a few of the reasons I love him so much.
-He is always there for the boys. He takes time to play with them, wrestle with them, and listen to their days
-He goes to work everyday to provide for us. He even has worked two jobs in the past to make sure that ends can meet and the boys have what they need.
-He puts up with me and my crazy idea's and moods!
- He helps with any project that is needed around the house and usually the every day chores also...such as laundry and dishes...he is even a good cook!

These are just a few of the reasons I have such a great man! I love him tons! I know you have all heard me say it before and I'll say it again. Love You Todd!!!

Cast off...

So I was driving home with Tobyn yesterday after he got his cast off and this was the conversation:

T- singing and making some loud noises in the background
Mom- "Tobyn, what are you doing?"
T-"I makin some noise!"
M- "Why?"
T- "'cause I have two legs!!!"

Silly kid! He's excited to have it off, but he still limps pretty bad and it still tender. The doc said if it isn't any better by the end of the week, we might need to re x-ray it. So we'll see how it goes. The doctor did comment what a crazy little boys I have because he needed to have it recast from wearing it out!

Happy Happy Birthday Tate Dear...

It was Tate's Birthday on Sat. He had so much fun. This year the numbers matched. He turned 6, he was born on 6/6 and was 6 lbs 6 oz when he was born!
He got to pick what we ate for breakfast (pancakes) and dinner (pizza). We had a bike rodeo party. I'm not quite talented enough to make a bike cake so we settled with cupcakes that look like a bunch of balloons. I still think it turned out pretty cute! The kids decorated their bikes, rode through a bike course, hit a pinata, and ate cake. Hopefully the kids had as much fun as Tate. Thanks for coming everyone!
We sure are lukcy to have such a great kid in our family! Love you Tate!

New Blog

I am trying out a new thing to motivate me on my exercise goings-on. I have created a blog to journal my happenings (thanks for the idea Amy G.) I am hoping as I record my thoughts and feelings I can motivated myself and motivate others as well.
I am not really sure what I am doing, or how I am going to do it...loose the weight that is...but I will try to figure it out and share any tips I may find along the way!
I would really like to run a 5k (to start) at the end of summer...so maybe blogging will be the motivation I need in order to do it!

Take a look and enjoy....healthymomma27.blogspot.com (I also put the link on my side bar)

Calories

A new way to count calories.

1/2 hour on elliptical = two 100 calorie packs.
